There’s a reason why the KTM 1190 RC8 R Track is being built in strictly limited numbers for those who want to use their machine exclusively for the racetrack.

Built to be “ready to race” by the KTM Racing Division and packed with all the goodies from the KTM PowerParts range that make the potential for race success even greater, the 1190 RC8 R Track is equipped with everything that has made KTM super bikes so successful then, now, and in the future.

The forged piston structure on the RC8 R Track, borrowed from Formula 1, results in a high piston loading capacity, despite the extremely short and lightweight design. This allows the reciprocating weight to be minimized and the responsiveness and free-revving nature of the engine maximized. It also has a racing seat, a multiple-adjustment racing footrest system, and handlebars that can be mounted at two heights and two angles, with subframes mounted at two heights.

The RC8 R Track is the embodiment of a sports bike that packs plenty of punch, courtesy of its 1190cc V-Twin engine that produces a very tasty 177 horsepower. Considered the measure stick of all things for ultra-sporty twins, the RC8 R Track offers maximum performance, predictable characteristics, and high reliability. The KTM engine impresses with an extremely broad rev range and spontaneous throttle response, while supplying supreme ride quality. It also carries an Akrapovic titanium EVO 4 exhaust system that produces optimum torque levels and power progression, to go with weight savings of almost six kilograms. The main reasons for the outstanding performance of the RC8 R Track’s V-twin with 75° cylinder angle are the ultra-modern cylinder heads with flow-optimized ducts and cam follower drive, each with two overhead camshafts for four valves.

Michelin Introduces Its New Motorcycle Tires With Changes To Race Cup

French tire giant, Michelin, introduced a couple of new tires last year meant for discerning motorcycle riders, and to mark the occasion, they are adding new categories to their Michelin Power Cup motorcycle races.

Newbies, women only and endurance categories have been added, plus the ability to sign up for individual races, and not have to commit to a whole season.

Plus, they have instructors available to help you on the circuit.

KTM factory rider Taddy Blazusiak continued his golden run on Sunday night to win the third and last SuperEnduro event of the FIM World Championship season 2011-2012 in Barcelona, Spain, to again clean sweep both the event and the series.

Engloshman Johnny Walker took second spot, also on a KTM motorcycle.

It’s easy to forget the motivation behind Ken Block’s ridiculous gymkhana video series. At the heart of the tire smoking action, Block is simply paying the piper. All of those drool-inducing slow motion shots of the stunt driver’s old Subaru WRX STI and new Ford Fiesta feature a smattering of sponsor stickers beating their way into our psyches. Block has even gone so far as to call one of his gymkhana flicks an infomercial.

French Supermoto National Championship winner Sylvain Bidart has put his own spin on giving sponsors a shout out with a new video of his own. Bidart and the Luc1 team take a tour of their major sponsors, from Honda and Michelin to Ixon and Intermarche, and the video includes plenty of awesome riding inside the factories themselves. The result is nine minutes of awesome riding cleverly disguised as an advertisement. Or maybe that’s the other way around. Either way, hit the jump to check it out for yourself. It’s an advertisement we’ll be watching over and over again.

Honduras outlaws motorcycle passengers to… curb shootings?!

We’ve seen some pretty strange legislation crop up when it comes to curbing crime, but Honduras has reached new extremes. According to the BBC, the country has outlawed passengers on motorcycles in an effort to fight a homicide epidemic. Honduras has the world’s highest murder rate, with 82 people killed out of every 100,000 per year. Two recent high-profile killings involved shooters who fired at their victims while riding shotgun on motorcycles, and President Porfiro Lobo has responded by asking congress to put a ban on bike passengers for six months as a result.

The country faces a rash of problems as Mexican drug cartels move to expand their influence. Honduras currently serves as a corridor for cocaine traffic from South America, and the presence of violent gangs in the nation has only serve to further destabilize the area. The country began deploying armed troops as police enforcers in November.

Marc Coma is the King of the Desert! The Spanish KTM rider won for his fifth time the Egyptian Pharaons Rally on his KTM motorcycle.

He needs to win the next race (Morocco) to clinch the world title. He’s now favorite to win the Dakar race, again.
