The organisers called off the event at 12.30pm because of extensive oil spillages on the circuit, with sabotage believed to be the likely cause of the damage.

Ryuichi Kiyonari finally conquered the Cadwell Park circuit where victory, even in his two title winning years had eluded him with a stylish performance in the opener to the fourth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship. The Japanese rider however was denied the opportunity of a winning double when his bike was sidelined on the warm-up lap by a technical problem ahead of the second race which was won by his HM Plant Honda team-mate Josh Brookes.
