Moto Guzzi V7 Clubman reportedly set for production

As is the case in the automobile world, what’s old is suddenly new again. While some homages to the past may be better left right where they are, others are simply due to come back in vogue. Such is the case with the classic cafe racer motorcycle, which some might argue never actually went out of style in the first place. And we totally dig the effective use of simple touches that make V7 Clubman stand out from the rest of the Italian manufacturer’s lineup.
Take, for instance, the sloping single-passenger humped saddle and the tiny front windscreen and number plate, which is mimicked on either side of the rear fender. Add in a highly polished fuel tank and an upswept Arrow exhaust system and you’ve got the perfect modern reinterpretation of a classic street racer. Makes us want to do the ton on our way to the Ace Cafe just looking at it…
That dream may soon be a reality, it seems. According to Motorcycle-USA’s monthly Euro Gossip report, the handsome Guzzi is headed for production in October. The supposed additional $1500 over the standard seems reasonable for all those aforementioned upgrades. We’ve contacted Moto Guzzi for an official word on whether or not the bike will come to the States, but in the meantime feel free to take a look at our high-res image gallery below.

Rumormill: Mercedes to partner with Ducati on new motorbike line?

There are a handful of automakers making motorcycles these days: , , , and of course . That’s about the extent of it, but the latter’s German rivals won’t be letting the Bavarian automaker keep the market all to itself for much longer. At least, not according to a recent round of rumors.
A couple of months ago, a surfaced that could team up with to revive the old NSU motorcycle brand under its own umbrella. Now reports suggest that could follow suit, potentially partnering with on a two-wheeled venture of its own.
The rumors are spurred by displays during Ducati events, where Mercedes unveiled a special edition and marked the Italian debut of the , but don’t seem to have much more traction than that. A partnership between the German automaker and the Italian motorbike firm could also potentially damage the latter’s close ties with Ferrari, but if the industry has taught us anything in the past few years, the sky’s the limit when it comes to joint ventures.

MV Agusta announces Cannonball Kit for 2010 Brutale 1090RR

When we recently got the chance to take the latest for a spin, we didn’t find the naked bike lacking for power. With 998cc of inline-four goodness cranking itself merrily away under the rider, measuring 139 horsepower and 78 pound-feet of torque when measured at the crankshaft, the new Brutale has plenty of oomph.
If you find yourself in need for more horses, though, MV Agusta will gladly sell you the enlarged 1090RR version with 144 horsepower. And if that’s still not enough? A head examination may be in order – this is a naked bike after all – but there’s always the newly announced Cannonball Kit to feed your insatiable lust for power.
According to the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, the combination of new ECU, cylinder head, camshafts, valves and titanium exhaust system will add an additional 21 horses to the 1090RR, putting total output at 165 horsepower. It all sounds good, except for the fact that the kit is not certified for road use and we don’t know of too many Brutale owners that ride their bikes exclusively on the track…

Oberdan Bezzi has inked another motorcycle sketch, one that catches our attention for being very realistic and yet almost 100% not plausible. Why? It is a Ducati motocross bike. Ducati doesn’t do that, but the Italian designer’s Desmocross concept shows just how good their bike would look if they ever decide to go muddy.
Ducati’s motocrosser would be powered by a high-performance single-cylinder engine displacing 450cc. Obiboi assumes the machine would be great as a supermoto as well if the right wheels come into place.
In terms of design, we can spot some influences especially in the way the front end meets the number plate and the angular lines, but in the end the bike looks like it could make it to my garage anytime. That is only if Ducati will surprise us at this year’s EICMA show with an all-new Desmocross. Meanwhile, hit the jump for the designer’s description.
