Just a shade above the 50 SX in KTM’s pecking order for upstart dirt bikes is the 65 SX. Whereas the former caters to the little tikes, the latter is just the right sports machine for all up-and-coming riders from 8 to 12 years of age and up to a height of about 1.60 m (5.25 ft).

The design of the bike is relatively simple and easy-to-use, something that kids will have a good time with while not worrying about all the complicated trinkets that adult bikes come with. On top of that, the 65 SX boasts of an impressive 65cc two-stroke engine that excels, thanks to its PCEV (Pressure Controlled Exhaust Valve) exhaust control system, with a great deal of torque from the bottom end up and very linear power development, making it correspondingly easy to ride.

The 65 SX’s engine is mated to a six-speed transmission, and when combined with a generous suspension travel and high-quality components, the mini-crosser provides everything necessary for having plenty of fun and laying the foundations for a promising MX career.

In terms of its handling characteristics, the 65 SX features a newly developed, fully adjustable WP telescopic fork that is generously dimensioned with 35 mm outer tubes. The anodized handlebars from Renthal are manufactured from a high-quality aluminum alloy. Likewise, four-piston brake calipers and wave discs have been fitted at the front and rear of the bike while aluminum spoked wheels and the nickel-coated exhaust system round off the image of a mini-crosser that kids will undoubtedly enjoy.

You can go ahead and tear down that poster of the Triumph Street Triple R. The 2012 MV Agusta Brutale 675 has officially debuted, and the bike promises to bring naked performance to a new level. Essentially a de-bodied F3 Supersport, the Brutale 675 packs 113 horsepower and tips the scales at a feathery 358 pounds dry.

MV Agusta has also equipped its naked warrior with a ride-by-wire system that boats four preset engine maps as well as a user-customizable tune. Eight-mode traction control is also part of the package.

The 675 cc three-cylinder engine utilizes some pretty trick engineering to offer buyers a more compact powerplant and improved handling at the same time. The engine’s water and oil pumps are integrated into the cylinder and crank cases for a design that takes up less space than ever before, and a counter-rotating crankshaft helps reduce the bike’s tendency to wheelie off the line.

In Europe, the 2012 MV Agusta Brutale 675 will set you back €8,990, which is around €100 cheaper than the equivalent Triumph. Read all about it in the press release after the break.

Triumph has dusted off the specifications for the company’s 2012 Speed Triple R as well as next year’s Tiger Explorer 1200 and a new Steve McQueen tribute bike.

The 2012 Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 (pictured above) will receive a full unveil at this year’s EICMA show. That means that details are scarce on the BMW GS-fighting bigger brother to the Tiger 800, but we do know that the machine will come equipped with a throttle-by-wire system as well as switchable ABS and traction control as standard equipment… not to mention the 1200cc inline-three engine.

Like the 2012 Explorer, the Speed Triple R boasts a host of improvements over the last iteration, with a new Ohlins NIX30 43mm fork and a TTX36 rear shock as well as a set of PVM five-spoke forged aluminum wheels that are a full 3.5 pounds lighter than the standard Speed Triple hardware. A set of four-piston Brembo monoblock calipers help increase the bike’s braking performance by around five percent, and an anti-lock braking system is also available at an additional cost. Unfortunately, the bike will hold onto its painfully-ugly headlight array for at least another year.

Lastly, Triumph is paying homage to Steve McQueen with the fittingly named Triumph Steve McQueen Edition. The Bonneville T100 is inspired by the actor’s own Trophy TR6 and wears a matte green paint scheme along with stenciled Triumph logos in black along the bike’s tank. Both side covers are adorned with McQueen’s signature, while a solo seat and plenty of blacked-out hardware wrap up the changes. Triumph only plans to produce 1,100 examples of the Steve McQueen Edition, and full specs will be unveiled alongside those for the Speed Triple R and Tiger Explorer 1200 at EICMA.

With a history that dates all the way back to the famous Paris to Dakar rally of yesteryear, the Yamaha Super Ténéré is the ultimate machine for experiencing all facets motorcycling has to offer.

In terms of its design, the Super Tenere is more utility than it is specialty. The design of the bike is highlighted by the raised snout and narrow windscreen. There are also slab-sided aluminum panniers, a tubular handlebar, adjustable seats, tall mirror stalks, a multi-function carrier system on the back, and a 19″ front wheel that completes the picture of a bike that can ride on just about road it travels on.

Where the Super Tenere lacks in design sizzle, it more than makes up for in performance. At the heart of the bike is an ultra-compact 1,200cc DOHC parallel twin engine mated to a six-speed wide-ratio transmission that features a very unique 270 degree crank whose close firing order gives the engine its unrivaled power characteristic. The bike also incorporates YCC-T fly by wire technology which is matched to an all-new traction control system, regulating ignition timing, and fuel injection volume based on rear wheel spin.

The Super Tenere features an all-new steel frame that is designed to reduce rider fatigue during long rides. The steel main frame allows the bike to enjoy balanced strength and flexibility, while the suspension set-up on the bike gives the Super Tenere the comfortable riding characteristics a bike of its name deserves. The suspension consists of 43mm forks on the front with 7.48″ of travel and adjustable preload, compression, and rebound dampening, plus an adjustable pre-load suspension on the rear that allows the rider to adjust for varying loads or a passenger with the simple turn of a knob.

The 2012 Yamaha Raider SCL is being prepared as a limited edition model that will only carry 500 units, and with good reason. The bikes are made with the highest quality material, complete with special elements including specially developed wheels by Performance Machine, among other things.

So why would you take the time and effort to bruise your elbows just to get a piece of the Raider SCL? Because you’ll be only one of 500 that has a chance to own one.

To get you up to speed with what you’re in store for with the Raider SCL, each of the bikes will come with a six-layer paint finish with a high-metallic Blazing Orange paint and a numbered, limited edition aluminum tank badge. The bike’s seats are made from finely crafted genuine leather with an embossed SCL logo and orange color matched stitching. There’s also a chrome belt guard, stainless mesh throttle cables and clutch/brake lines, and custom 5-spoke chrome wheels co-developed by Star and Performance Machine. And just to remind everybody of the bike’s exclusivity, the SCL comes with an exclusive metal badge with a hologram that has been placed on top of the fuel tank as a constant reminder to its owner that only 500 of these unique machines exist.

At the heart of the beast is a powerful 1,854cc air-cooled, OHV with 4 valves per cylinder, pushrod 48-degree V-twin engine that pumps out max torque at just 2,500 rpm and max power at 4,500 rpm for powerful,
relaxed cruising. As far as handling goes, the bike carries an all-aluminum cast frame that’s light, rigid, and tuned for light, athletic handling.

All told, there’s a reason why the Yamaha Star Raider SCL is a special edition. Everything about it is more than just your average cruiser.
