Gresini Looks To Start Second Half Of Season Strong

Third place for Alex Barros in the 500cc Czech Republic Grand Prix of 1998 was one of just two podiums during the team´s second season of top-level racing but it was a sign of the their progress that by the time Daijiro Kato repeated the result on his way to the 250cc title three years later it was almost seen as a disappointment! Kato also made history at Brno in 2002 when he switched from the NSR500 two-stroke machine midway through the season to make his debut on the four-stroke RC211V, finishing in a sensational second place behind Max Biaggi. Sete Gibernau repeated second place in honour of his late team-mate in 2003, missing out on the win by just 0.042 seconds to Valentino Rossi before dedicating a glorious victory to the Japanese star in 2004, when he beat Rossi to the line by a remarkable 3.5 seconds. The team were celebrating again last year, when Toni Elias scored a sensational podium finish.
